"Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said to them, “Go up this way by the South, and go up into the hill country..."
Numbers 13:17
As Israel moved into the Promised Land, Moses was directed to send out spies. As believers, we work with God to see His Kingdom coming on earth as in heaven, as we go ahead of Jesus to prepare the way. Understanding the conditions where we are sent helps us understand how our spiritual battle is to be conducted. Spirit-led research involves looking and really seeing as God sees. It is more than simply gathering physical information; it involves bringing that information before the Lord for Him to interpret. What appear to be obstacles can then be transformed by His Spirit into opportunities for the gospel. Caleb and Joshua were said to have a “different spirit” and they walked in wholehearted obedience. Waiting on God allows Him to download to us His divine strategies and timing. Spirit-led research keeps us dependent upon God throughout the enterprise and helps us avoid relying upon our own strength and wisdom in the process. After all, it is His Kingdom we seek, not our own.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, as I lift up my eyes in faith to look through the place you have called me, open my eyes to truly see as You see. Your thoughts and perspective are higher than mine. As I wait upon You, download Your strategies and unfold Your plans to me that I may cooperate in them. Help me to be joyfully obedient to You.”
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, the Natanzi in Iran were created for the praise of Your glory. Open their eyes God, show them the truth of salvation that you provided by giving your One and Only Son Jesus for them. Send your Holy Spirit to remove the scales that blind their eyes to the truth. Guide Your laborers to see them through Your eyes and to receive Your strategy for introducing them to Jesus. Do what only you can do among them today! Amen."
