"And Apphia our sister and Archippus our fellow soldier, and the church in your house:"
Philemon 1:2
God's heart is to see the rapid replication of His kingdom on earth. Jesus modeled this for us by choosing 12 disciples with whom He related intimately. He spent time teaching them and showing them what and how the kingdom of Heaven worked. He then sent them out two by two to replicate that in others. In our verse today, Paul refers to ‘the church in your house.’ Think of how the disciples were in fact a house church that soon multiplied into a global church, the kingdom of heaven on earth. Two by two, they found people of peace, households that welcomed them. Through those lines of relationship, other households were added. That church is still replicating and multiplying today around the earth, house to house. Ask God today what is your part of that global work of expanding His kingdom discipling groups, not just individuals.
Disciple's Prayer for Today:
"Father, I want to be like Jesus. I want to learn from Him and to walk with Him. Jesus, help me imitate Your ways and walk in Your truths. Let me lean on You and look to You as my example. Teach me, God, with whom I’m to walk and how to recognize and then disciple those You bring in relationship with me as I go about my life. Help me disciple groups, not just individuals in following You."
Prayer for the Unreached of the Day:
"Father, I stand in the gap for the Rabiya Bedouin in Tunisia today. I stand before Your throne and ask You for the salvation of these people. Lord, You know each of their hearts and You know each day they live in darkness without the wonderful light of Your presence. Send workers two by two to go among these people to find the people of peace You’ve prepared. Empower them to speak the truth that can be understood and received so that whole households begin to follow Jesus. Empower workers to disciple whole groups, not just individuals. Let there be a mighty revival among these people. Amen."
